THE SEDITION CAUCUS

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL WHO WOULD LISTEN

I certainly did not see this one coming, even after four years of inciteful language and divisive rhetoric from this nation’s leader.

In the first week of 2021, we had 147 Republican members of Congress attempt to disenfranchise the votes of 82 million Americans while a group of insurrectionists bent on destruction, and at the direction of the President of the United States, breached the US Capitol building. All at the same time.

Sedition Caucus: The 147 Republicans Who Voted to Overturn the 2020 Election Results

Those same Republicans, now appropriately known as the Sedition Caucus, blatantly ignored our Constitution by objecting to certified electoral votes from two states that voted for President-Elect Joe Biden.

This begs the question of the Grand Old Party: Whatever happened to states’ rights?

Now, Vice President Mike Pence is on the outs with Donald Trump because he did not (unconstitutionally) throw out those state-certified votes and unilaterally declare Trump the winner of the 2020 election.

I imagine it must be quite frustrating to Donald Trump that Pence is the ONLY member of the Executive Branch he cannot fire.

As I have stated numerous times before: You are in Donald Trump’s good graces, until you are not.

January 6th, 2021 was an abhorrent day for America, and for Georgians in particular.

It was demoralizing to witness seditionists, posing as elected officials, attempt to use the Constitution to unconstitutionally overturn an election.

Pro-Trump Rioters stand off with Police just before breaching Capitol Building

It was horrifying to witness insurrectionists march on our nation’s Capitol, at President Trump’s behest, and infiltrate by force the halls, offices, and chambers of the US Capitol Building, seemingly aided by some members of the US Capitol Police.

It is sad to think of the peaceful protestors involved in that march whose voices have been drowned out, whose First Amendment rights have been overshadowed by the actions of domestic terrorists.

It is heartbreaking to learn that five people, including Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, lost their lives as a direct result of these terrorist actions.

If all that were not enough, Georgians had to endure the words and actions of our very own Congressmembers. Fortunately, Senators Loeffler and Perdue have lost their Senatorial bids and will be replaced in short order. But let us not forget when 2022 rolls around that our current members of the House of Representatives are “card-carrying” members of the Sedition Caucus:

Georgia’s 1st Congressional District: Rep. Earl Carter

Georgia’s 9th Congressional District: Rep. Andrew Clyde

Georgia’s 10th Congressional District: Rep. Jody Hice

Georgia’s 11th Congressional District: Rep. Barry Loudermilk

Georgia’s 12th Congressional District: Rep. Rick Allen

Georgia’s 14th Congressional District: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green

Georgia’s 1st Congressional District: Rep. Earl Carter
Georgia’s 1st Congressional District: Rep. Earl Carter
Georgia’s 9th Congressional District: Rep. Andrew Clyde
Georgia’s 9th Congressional District: Rep. Andrew Clyde
Georgia’s 10th Congressional District: Rep. Jody Hice
Georgia’s 10th Congressional District: Rep. Jody Hice
Georgia’s 11th Congressional District: Rep. Barry Loudermilk
Georgia’s 11th Congressional District: Rep. Barry Loudermilk
Georgia’s 12th Congressional District: Rep. Rick Allen
Georgia’s 12th Congressional District: Rep. Rick Allen
Georgia’s 14th Congressional District: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green
Georgia’s 14th Congressional District: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green

No matter your political affiliation, if you genuinely believe in democracy and in the US Constitution, I urge you to consider the fact that these Representatives, along with the President of the United States and the mob of domestic terrorists who unlawfully breached the Capitol building, have incited and committed violent acts against the United States.

They are not Patriots. They are Seditionists! Insurrectionists! Terrorists!

sedition: conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch

insurrection: a violent uprising against an authority or government

terrorism: the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims
